Three More Die As Berkshire County Coronavirus Count Nears 400; Over 32,000 Statewide

Researchers found that employing social media posts as a means of "visual nudging" to encourage safe behaviors resulted in decreased COVID-19 positivity rates of up to 25%.

With three more coronavirus-related deaths announced Thursday, Berkshire County has had 26 fatalities and more than 380 positive cases of COVID-19.

Three Berkshire County women – in their 60’s, 80’s, and 90’s, respectively – were among the 137 new deaths reported by the state of Massachusetts Thursday. The total state death toll is now at 1,245.

With 2,263 new cases of COVID-19 reported, the commonwealth now has a total of 32,181. 610 of the state’s deaths have been reported at long-term care facilities, where 4,798 residents or workers have reported cases at 232 facilities.

There are 28 hospitalized people with confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, including nine in intensive care. Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington has two.
