A third man has been arraigned for murder after a January shooting in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.

Berkshire County District Attorney Andrea Harrington says 21-year-old Dasean Smith was indicted by a grand jury last week and arrested on Friday in Pittsfield in connection with the January 20th shooting on Edward Avenue that killed 18-year-old Jaden Salois.

Smith was also arraigned on the charges of carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a firearm and possessing a firearm while committing a felony. Smith’s pretrial hearing is set for December 9th. He is being held without bail.

Carlos Pascual-Polanco, 19, and Chiry Omar Pascual-Polanco, 22, both of Pittsfield, face murder charges in the death of Salois, who lived in Dalton.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018, following stints at WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Western Massachusetts, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. His free time is spent with his cat Harry, experimental electronic music, and exploring the woods.
