SUNY Warns New Yorkers About Hot Weather Risks

Jul 20, 2019

Experts at the State University of New York system are warning New Yorkers to stay safe as the mercury rises.

SUNY is sharing tips for staying healthy through the next few days, when high temperatures are expected throughout the region.

They include limiting outside activities and exposure to the sun, wearing loose-fitting clothing and drinking plenty of water.

While the elderly, the very young and those with heart or respiratory issues face the greatest threat, Ricardo Azziz, SUNY's chief officer of academic health and hospital affairs, says high temperatures can put anyone at risk of heat-related illness.

High temperatures are expected throughout much of the nation through Monday.
