State Highway Portions To Honor Service Members

Several portions of state highways are being renamed in honor of New York service members killed in the line of duty.

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Thursday that part of State Route 146 in Guilderland in Albany County will be renamed for Lieutenant Colonel Todd J. Clark, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2013.

Also being honored in Westchester County: Marine Captain Eric A. Jones — a helicopter pilot killed in a 2009 crash in Afghanistan — with a portion of State Route 137 in Pound Ridge; and Specialist David. R. Fahey, Jr., who was killed by an IED in Afghanistan in 2011, whose name will adorn a bridge on State Route 129 that crosses the New Croton Reservoir.

Additionally, a portion of State Route 75 in Erie County will be named in honor of Army Captain John J. Levulis. Levulis, who served a tour in Afghanistan as an Infantry Platoon Leader with the 10th Mountain Division, died in May after a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike. The Eden native is the brother of WAMC’s Berkshire Bureau Chief Jim Levulis.

Also, a portion of State Route 13 in the Village of Camden in Oneida County will be renamed the "Sergeant Elisha R. Parker Veterans Memorial Highway" for Parker, of Camden, killed in Iraq in 2006.
