Springfield LWV Schedules Forums On Police Oversight

The League of Women Voters of Springfield, Massachusetts has announced a series of forums this month on police oversight.

Springfield has debated the issue of police accountability for decades.

Now, a League committee has done research from around the country on various methods of civilian police oversight and has produced a report for discussion, according to Linda O’Connell, organizer of the forums.

Anyone who wants to participate in the public forums is encouraged to sign up by emailing SpringfieldLWV@gmail.com

The record-setting tenure of Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno. The 2011 tornado and its recovery that remade the largest city in Western Massachusetts. The fallout from the deadly COVID outbreak at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. Those are just a few of the thousands and thousands of stories WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill has covered for WAMC in his nearly 17 years with the station.
