Spouse Appointed To Fill Vermont Senate Seat

Sirotkin and Necrason

Governor Shumlin has appointed the husband of a late state senator to fill her seat.

Michael Sirotkin of South Burlington will replace his late wife, Senator Sally Fox, in the Vermont Senate.

Sirotkin asked to be considered for the seat and was one of three names sent to the governor by the Chittenden County Democratic Committee.

In making the appointment, Governor Shumlin said he was honoring a request from  Senator Fox that her husband  fill her seat after her death.

Sirotkin,  an attorney and lobbyist in Montpelier,  will sell his interest in his lobbying firm. He will be sworn in on February 11th.
