#SportsReport: Penguins Win Second Straight Stanley Cup

NHL:

The Pittsburgh Penguins are Stanley Cup champions for the second straight year following a 2-0 win in Game 6 over the Predators in Nashville. Patric Hornqvist scored the game-winner with just 1:35 left in regulation before Carl Hagelin's empty-netter secured the victory. Matt Murray picked up his second consecutive shutout for the Pens, who are the first repeat champions since the 1998 Detroit Red Wings.

NBA:

Tonight the Warriors will try again to win it all when they take on Cleveland in Oakland at 9 p.m. for Game 5. Golden State leads the series 3-1.

Former NBA player Sebastian Telfair has been arrested on weapons and marijuana-related charges during a traffic stop in Brooklyn. Police say the 32-year-old Telfair and another man were arrested early Sunday morning after police found firearms, a semi-automatic rifle, ammunition, a ballistic vest and marijuana inside their vehicle. It wasn't clear iaf Telfair had a lawyer.

LeBron James says his dream teammates would be Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson in a 3-on-3 competition at the 2020 Olympics. The Cavaliers star isn't so sure which current players he'd pick. Not that LeBron is going to participate. He says he probably won't play in the new event at the Tokyo Games.

Tennis:

Rafael Nadal has won his record 10th French Open title, beating No. 3 Stan Wawrinka in straight sets. It took the fourth-seeded Nadal just over two hours to win 6-2, 6-3, 6-1, with the Spaniard sealing it on his second match point when Wawrinka sliced a backhand volley into the net. It's Nadal's 15th Grand Slam title overall.

MLB:

New York Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul will be in Cooperstown today to celebrate the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s 78th birthday.

Rookie Aaron Judge banged out two more homers on Sunday, including a drive nearly 500 feet while the Yanks were destroying the Orioles, 14-3. The 6-foot-7 Judge leads the majors with 21 home runs, tops the AL with 47 RBIs and owns a .344 average. Starlin Castro homered and drove in five runs for the Bombers, who have outscored their opponents 55-9 during a five-game winning streak.

Justin Upton hit a grand slam off the right-field foul pole (The Pesky Pole) and the Detroit Tigers averted a sweep with an 8-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox. The Tigers halted a three-game losing streak in a contest that lasted 4 hours, 6 minutes.

Seth Lugo won his season debut and the New York Mets scored two early runs to beat the Atlanta Braves 2-1. Lugo returned from right elbow inflammation that sidelined him all season, helping Mets starters post a 0.83 ERA over the last five games.

Tim Tebow had perhaps his steadiest week with the Columbia Fireflies with hits in four of his six games. Tebow helped the New York Mets Single A affiliate win all seven games during the week. Tebow had four doubles and reached base eight times over the six games he played. The former Heisman Trophy winner is playing his first season of professional baseball.

Mets manager Terry Collins says slugger Yoenis Cespedes is available to pinch-hit Sunday and will return to the lineup for the following two games when New York hosts the Chicago Cubs. Collins has said several times over the past few days that Cespedes will be eased back into regular playing time.

The Chicago Cubs have reached the .500 mark again and ended the Colorado Rockies' seven-game winning streak. Addison Russell and Kyle Schwarber had back-to-back home runs in the sixth inning to put Chicago ahead to stay in a 7-5 decision over the Rockies. Miguel Montero and Ben Zobrist also connected as the defending champs dropped the Rockies to 41-24, still tops in the National League.

The Astros are 2-4 since an 11-game winning streak after Albert Pujols belted his 601st career home run and Eric Young Jr. collected a career-high four RBIs in the Angels' 12-6 rout in Houston. The game was tied 6-6 until Young launched a three-run shot to cap the Halos' six-run fifth. Kole Calhoun had two hits and three RBIs, while Andrelton Simmons added two hits and two ribbies for Los Angeles.

Louisville left-handed pitcher and first baseman Brendan McKay is giving teams a tough decision in the Major League Baseball draft. Some big league teams project him as a pitcher in the pros while others consider him a hitter. McKay is one of a handful of talented two-way players at the top of the draft. California high school shortstop and right-hander Hunter Greene is also a first-round talent on the mound and at the plate.

Soccer World Qualifiers:

The United States men's soccer team is unbeaten in its last four World Cup qualifying matches after picking up a rare point in Mexico. Michael Bradley scored a stunning early goal from about 40 yards before the U.S. held on for a 1-1 tie in Mexico City. Bradley put the U.S. ahead in the sixth minute when he deflected a poor backpass by Mexican star Javier Hernandez and created his own breakaway. The Mexicans tied it on Carlos Vela's 23-yard shot in the 23rd minute. It was just the third point earned by the Americans at Azteca Stadium. The U.S. is now 2-2-2 in the final round of Cup qualifying.

NASCAR:

Ryan Blaney has earned his first career NASCAR Cup victory by holding off Kevin Harvick down the stretch at Pocono Raceway. Blaney was exhilarated following a frenetic final 10 laps in which he needed to pass a blocking Kyle Busch with about nine laps left. The 23-year-old Blaney won for the first time in 68 career starts, doing it without a working team radio. Erik Jones was third, followed by Kurt Busch, Brad Keselowski, and Martin Truex Jr. Darrell Wallace Jr. finished a lap down in 26th in the first start by a black driver in the Cup series since 2006.

F1:

Lewis Hamilton took the Formula One Canadian Grand Prix for the sixth time and the third year in a row. Hamilton left from the pole and was never challenged as most of the jostling was behind him. Valtteri Bottas was second, 19.7 seconds back to give Mercedes a sweep of the top two spots. Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo was third for the third straight week.

NHRA:

Steve Torrence won the 48th annual NHRA Summernationals in Top Fuel on Sunday. It was his third victory of the season as Torrence used a 3.857-second pass at 320.28 miles per hour to defeat Antron Brown who ran a 3.932 at 306.74.

PGA:

Daniel Berger shot a 4-under 66 to erase a three-shot deficit and win the St. Jude Classic for a second consecutive year. The 24-year-old is the fourth back-to-back winner at St. Jude and the first since David Toms did it in 2003 and '04. Berger was 10 under for the tournament, one shot ahead of Charl Schwartzel and Whee Kim.

Brandt Jobe won the PGA Tour Champions event Sunday by one shot, finishing at 14-under for his first victory in 19 years. Jobe shot a 69 in the final round to snap a winless drought that had stretched back to 1998, when he took first in a tournament in Japan. Scott McCarron finished one shot back and one ahead of money leader Bernhard Langer, who was seeking his third straight tournament title.

LPGA:

Ariya Jutanugarn won the Manulife LPGA Classic with a birdie on the first playoff hole to beat American Lexi Thompson and South Korea's In Gee Chun. Jutanugarn shot a 3-under 69 in the final round and was tied with Thompson and Chun at 17-under 271 heading into the playoff. Thompson started the day with a one-shot lead and led by four at the turn before carding four bogeys on the back nine.

WNBA:

Tina Charles had 21 points and 14 rebounds and New York used a 12-1 late run to beat the Seattle Storm 94-86 Sunday. Sugar Rodgers had 20 points and Zellous 16 for New York.

Horse Racing:

Tapwrit overtook favored Irish War Cry in the stretch to win the Belmont Stakes by two lengths, giving trainer Todd Pletcher his third victory in the final leg of the Triple Crown. Ridden by Jose Ortiz, Tapwrit ran 1 1/2 miles in 2:30.02 on his home track.
