MLB:
In baseball, in the American League, Oakland beat the Yankees 4-3 in 10 innings, Cleveland bested Houston 2-0, Minnesota topped Baltimore 8-3, Toronto edged the White Sox 2-1, Seattle slid past Detroit 7-6 in 11 innings. In a double header Kansas City beat Tampa Bay 9-5 in the first game, then again 7-1 in the second.
In the National League, San Francisco blanked the Mets 3-0, Philadelphia bested the Dodgers 7-2, Pittsburgh won against San Diego 3-2, Cincinnati shut out Washington 5-0, Atlanta edged Milwaukee 4-3. In a double header the Cubs topped St. Louis 7-4 in the first game, and then again 5-3 in the second.
In interleague play, Boston edged Miami 4-3, Arizona doubled up Texas 4-2, and it was the Angels over Colorado 10-2.
New York Yankees closer Andrew Miller and center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury are expected to come off the disabled list before tonight's home game against Oakland. Miller has been sidelined since June 10th with a strained left forearm. Ellsbury has been out since May 20th with a sprained right knee.
Tennis:
Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, Agnieszka Radwanska and Garbine Muguruza have advanced to the Wimbledon women's semifinals. Williams knocked out Victoria Azarenka, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3, Sharapova beat CoCo Vandeweghe, 6-3, 6-7, 6-2, Radwanska ousted Madison Keys in three sets and Muguruza was a straight-sets winner over Timea Bacsinszky. Novak Djokovic advanced to the men's quarters by downing Kevin Anderson 7-5 in the fifth set.
World Cup:
The confetti will be flying in lower Manhattan when New York City holds a parade for the U.S. women's soccer team to celebrate its World Cup victory. The parade has been scheduled for Friday at 11 a.m. along Broadway from the Battery to City Hall, known as the Canyon of Heroes. The celebration will include a program at City Hall.
NBA:
A person with knowledge of the deal says the Golden State Warriors are sending forward David Lee to the Boston Celtics for Gerald Wallace. Lee is due to make $15.4 million next season and became expendable following the emergence of Draymond Green. The former All-Star played the fewest minutes of his career and averaged just 7.9 points per game, the lowest since his rookie year with the Knicks in 2005-06.
Golf:
The PGA of America is moving its Grand Slam of Golf from Donald Trump's golf course in Los Angeles.
Trump says he met with the PGA of America and both sides agreed it would be best to not play the 36-hole exhibition at Trump National Golf Club.
The Republican presidential candidate has come under fire for calling Mexican immigrant criminals and rapists. That has prompted several businesses to cut ties with Trump.
The 36-hole Grand Slam of Golf is for the major champions of the year.
Tour de France:
German rider Tony Martin has won the fourth stage of the Tour de France to take the overall lead. Martin started the day in second place overall, one second behind Britain's Chris Froome. He now leads Froome by 12 seconds and American Tejay Van Garderen by 25 seconds.
Soccer - Gold Cup:
The U.S. men's soccer team has opened its CONCACAF Gold Cup title defense by beating Honduras 2-1 in Frisco, Texas. Clint Dempsey scored twice on headers set up by Michael Bradley, who wore the captain's arm band in his 100th international appearance.
WNBA:
In the WNBA, Tulsa beat Atlanta 85-75.
