Great Barrington, Massachusetts has approved a sewer rate hike.

Town officials proposed and approved a 10 percent sewer rate hike for 2018 this week. It’ll cost the average homeowner $46 per month.

The hike will help cover the $11 million in debt the town accrued from its wastewater treatment plant overhaul.

The 2018 tax rate is also up 7 cents from last year to $14.98 per $1,000 of assessed value – roughly $4,500 for the median home.
