In the battle over who will lead the Senate Democratic Caucus, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is giving her support to her New York colleague.

After Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid announced his retirement last week, a public feud has arisen between No. 2 Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois and No. 3 Senator Chuck Schumer of New York.

On Thursday, Senator Gillibrand sided with her fellow New Yorker.

“I think he will do a great job and he has the support of our caucus and, certainly, my personal support. And I’m looking forward to working with him in his capacity as the leader of our caucus.”

Gillibrand was in Troy to advocate for paid family leave.
