Schumer: If Russia Goes Farther, It'll Suffer

Dave Lucas

A day after Crimea overwhelmingly voted to rejoin Russia despite international criticism, New York’s senior U.S. Senator says Russia must not be allowed further into Ukraine. Democrat Chuck Schumer spoke today in Albany.

"What we really have to do is stop them from going into the Ukraine properly. Ukraine is a large area with very rich farm land and good industry and we can't let Russia take them over," Schumer said. "So putting in sanctions and telling the Russians that if they go further then you're going to suffer, particularly economically, is very important."

Senator Schumer was at Albany Airport to announce that JetBlue will begin service there in 2015.
