Scenic Hudson Closes Mount Beacon Park Amid Pandemic

Courtesy of Scenic Hudson

Scenic Hudson has closed one of its parks to protect public health and prevent further spread of COVID-19.

Poughkeepsie-based Scenic Hudson is temporarily prohibiting access to Mount Beacon Park. Scenic Hudson is taking this step because the park’s size and narrowness of its trail make it impossible for a large influx of people to follow the six-foot social distancing guidelines. There will be barriers installed to prevent access to the parking lot on Howland Avenue. And Scenic Hudson and Beacon officials say visitors are not to access the park on foot or by parking on Route 9D. As of now, all other Scenic Hudson parks — including Long Dock Park and Madam Brett Park in Beacon — remain open.
