The Roundtable Broadcasts Live From Yidstock

WAMC is proud to present a special edition of The Roundtable with a live broadcast from The Yiddish Book Center in Amherst, Massachusetts on Friday, July 18th from 9 a.m. to noon.  The Yiddish Book Center is hosting “Yidstock 2014: the Festival of New Yiddish Music” and The Roundtable Panel will discuss the festival along with other attractions in the Amherst area.

“We are thrilled to broadcast once again from the Pioneer Valley,” says The Roundtable host Joe Donahue.  “The Yiddish Book Center has been on our wish list for years and we are very excited to visit and broadcast from this lively and vital Jewish organization. As a lover of books, I have long been fascinated by the center’s work in rescuing, translating and disseminating Yiddish books. It should be an exciting three hours showcasing many jewels of the Valley.”

The show will include The Roundtable Panel's Joe Donahue and Alan Chartock along with political consultant Libby Post and Aaron Lansky, Founder and President of The Yiddish Book Center.  Special guests include Seth Rogovoy, editor and publisher of The Rogovoy Report and Yidstock programmer and Sebastian Schulman, the Translation Projects Coordinator at the Yiddish Book Center. The Roundtable will discuss Yiddish culture and music with Josh Lambert Academic Director of The Yiddish Book Center and Hankus Netsky, multi-instrumentalist, composer, ethnomusicologist, and the founder and director of the Klezmer Conservatory Band. The broadcast will feature conversation with and live music from two members of the Klezmer Conservatory Band. Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Tracy Kidder will also join the show, as will The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, and Suzanne Beck, Executive Director at Greater Northampton Chamber of Commerce.

WAMC will post pictures throughout the broadcast on both Facebook (www.facebook.com/WAMCRadio) and Twitter (www.twitter.com/WAMCRoundtable)
