A Rockland Man Is Arrested In Connection With A Bank Robbery

A Rockland County man was arrested Sunday on charges of robbing a bank at gunpoint.

U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara says William Mateo allegedly entered Key Bank November 18 in Central Nyack with a mask and a gun, robbed the bank of more than $6,000, and then fired a shot toward one of the bank tellers. Mateo was arrested at a hotel in Elmsford, in Westchester County. The 24-year old Valley Cottage man faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison for bank robbery if convicted and a maximum sentence of life in prison for using a firearm for a crime of violence, if convicted.
