With powdered alcohol expected to hit store shelves in the next few weeks—during the height of summer—U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer is launching an emergency push to ban Palcohol.
A little over a year ago, warning it will become “the Kool-Aid of teen binge drinking,” Schumer spoke out against Palchol at the Albany Boys and Girls club: "...we ant the FDA to banit, and ban it ahead of time, so we know this will never see the light."
Despite Schumer's crusading, Palcohol was approved for federal labels by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) and the manufacturer now says it will hit store shelves as early as the next few weeks. Schumer’s emergency legislative push will include language explicitly banning the production, sale, distribution or possession of powdered alcohol. This emergency legislative action will be voted on next week.
