Price Chopper Unveils New Name: Market 32

One the region’s biggest grocery chains is getting a new name. The Golub Corporation unveiled a $300 million investment, new banner, and branding of its Price Chopper Stores Tuesday.

The new brand is Market 32, a reference to the company’s start in 1932. Golub will initially convert its stores in Clifton Park and Wilton, New York, and Pittsfield, Massachusetts. The Schenectady-based company announced the new stores will have expanded food service options, more available products and more customer service. “That’s why we’re proud to announce today that we will be investing more than $300 million over the next five years to transform our stores,” said Jerry Golub.

A second wave of conversions will begin over the next 18 months, encompassing another 10 to 15 stores. More than half of the 135-store chain will be converted to the Market 32 brand within five years.
