Poughkeepsie Mayor Says CDBG Cuts Would Hurt His City

Many local elected officials are concerned about a variety of proposed cuts in President Trump’s Fiscal Year 2018 federal budget. And one worry is over the potential axing of the Community Development Block Grant program.

Republican Poughkeepsie Mayor Rob Rolison says CDBG cuts would hurt his city.

“It’s approximately $800,000  that we get a year that go to various aspects of city government and also assisting nonprofit organizations within the city,” Rolison says. “Without that funding there would be a real gap in what we’re able to deliver in services, infrastructure repair and other things. And the cuts would also impact local community groups.”
