A décor design and printing company in Pittsfield is investing $4 million in energy efficiency measures and machinery to expand its capabilities.Interprint is having a $2 million 1-megawatt solar array installed on the roof of its 138,000-square foot North American headquarters on Route 41 in Pittsfield. The system will go online by the middle of 2016, supplying 20 percent of the company’s annual electricity consumption. Interprint is also converting all of its lighting to LED, according to communications director Peter Stasiowski.

“And the balance is for machinery that will allow us to print more diverse substrates for the printed décor market,” said Stasiowski.

The lighting switch is expected to save half a million kilowatt hours of electricity per year. About 150 people work at the Pittsfield site.
