The Pittsfield, Massachusetts city council is set to vote Tuesday on a spending plan for emergency federal funding proposed by Mayor Linda Tyer.

The plan would set up how the city would distribute almost $790,000 in federal funding from the CARES Act.

“The mayor’s proposing to use them in the form of grants that could be available in early May to assist Pittsfield families with rent, mortgage, and utility payments," said Pittsfield City Council President and At-Large Councilor Peter Marchetti. "Eligible homeowners or renters could receive up to three months or a maximum of $5,000 per household to pay mortgage, rent, or utility.”

The grants will be administered through Pittsfield's Community Development Block Grant. Some nonprofit entities are eligible for funding, as well as grants up to $10,000 to Pittsfield small businesses in economic jeopardy due to the pandemic.
