A Pittsfield, Massachusetts man is taking to the airwaves for the first time to celebrate Woodstock’s 50th anniversary.

City resident Joe Guzzo is making his radio debut on a community station this week to offer a local tribute to a pivotal moment in American culture.

“Young people wanted to be heard and respected for their views about how government was acting and performing and women, they wanted to be treated equally – and they still do today, that is still a battle.”

‘The Woodstock 50th Anniversary Program Special’ airs Thursday through Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. on WTBR in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Guzzo will program music from Woodstock performers like Credence Clearwater Revival and Jimi Hendrix to play in the order they appeared at the festival back in 1969.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018, following stints at WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Western Massachusetts, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. His free time is spent with his cat Harry, experimental electronic music, and exploring the woods.
