The Pittsfield, Massachusetts city council is scheduled to vote on an update to its municipal sewer codes Tuesday night.
Council president Peter Marchetti says the amendment is one of two demands the city must meet to receive state revolving funding for its wastewater treatment plant upgrade.
“One was a comprehensive wastewater management plan that was voted on by the council at the last meeting, and the other was updated to our city code in regards to sewers and drains – and when we get through both of those changes, our interest rate for the SRF loan goes down from 2% to 0%,” explained Marchetti.
With the amendment, the city would meet Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection standards for the plant project.
