Orange County Officials To Host Public Forum On Annexation Proposal

Orange County officials are holding their own review of a controversial annexation proposal from the Hudson Valley Hasidic Jewish village of Kiryas Joel. And there’s a public forum Thursday night.

Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus says his county is conducting its own analysis of the proposed annexation of 507 acres of Town of Monroe land to the village. In January, the state Department of Environmental Conversation designated Kiryas Joel lead agency reviewing the environmental impact of the annexation petition. Neuhaus says representatives from the county’s Departments of Social Services, Planning, and Real Property Tax Service will be on hand and public input is welcome. The session is in the Central Valley Elementary School auditorium Thursday, April 16, from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.
