New York state lawmakers from Westchester County are letting the governor of Connecticut know they oppose his proposed toll increase on an interstate highway.

New York state Senators Shelley Mayer and Pete Harckham along with Assemblymen David Buchwald and Kevin Byrne sent a letter to Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont, saying they oppose any toll increase for I-684. Earlier in November, Lamont released his proposal to install a toll on the 1.4 mile stretch of I-684 that runs through Greenwich, Connecticut as part of a statewide initiative to generate revenue to invest in the state’s road and rail infrastructure. The New York legislators say a toll would create a “New York” tax on their constituents who must use this small section of Connecticut in their drive within New York State.
