NYS Thruway Authority Announces Riverfront Grants

WAMC, Allison Dunne

The New York State Thruway Authority has announced $1.5 million in state grants to seven municipalities in Rockland and Westchester Counties. The money is for riverfront restoration and revitalization projects near the new Tappan Zee Bridge.

The grants will fund recreational, cultural and infrastructure projects in villages along the Hudson River. In Westchester, a grant for Tarrytown is to improve Patriots Park while a grant for Sleepy Hollow is to construct the Hudson River Plaza waterfront park. Irvington will undertake streetscape improvements to the theater district. In Rockland, Piermont will repave Ferry Road to prevent storm damage while Nyack will construct a pedestrian bridge. South Nyack will improve Franklin Street Park and Upper Nyack will build a new sidewalk along North Broadway.
