NYS Senate Investigations Committee Chair Asks AG To Look Into Ticketmaster Policy

NYS Senator James Skoufis
Courtes of the Office of NYS Senator James Skoufis

The chair of the New York state Senate Investigations and Government Operations Committee says an investigation launched earlier this year into the live event ticketing industry has taken on urgency amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Democratic state Senator James Skoufis says the urgency comes given alleged deceptive practices during the pandemic. Skoufis says his Investigations Committee sent document requests on March 5 to several ticketing industry stakeholders seeking information on their respective policies and practices. Now, he has written to state Attorney General Letitia James asking her office to open a formal inquiry into alleged impropriety by Ticketmaster, which changed its refund policy amid the public health emergency. Concerts, shows and the like have been cancelled and ticket holders are requesting refunds in large numbers.
