New York Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos has announced the creation of a Republican Senate Task Force on Workforce Development.
George Amedore will co-chair the new task force with Long Island’s Jack Martins. There are 13 members in addition to the co-chairs, including Senators William Larkin, Kathleen Marchione, and Sue Serino. The Task Force plans to review state education policies to maximize opportunities for high school and college students to obtain industry certifications and take career-themed courses for jobs that are most in demand. Members also plan to explore the job training resources available to unemployed and under-employed New Yorkers and identify opportunities for additional collaboration between education and business communities.
