NYS Assemblyman Announces Grant for Phoenicia Festival

The Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice

During opening night, a festival in Ulster County received some good news from a New York state assemblyman.

Democratic Assemblyman Kevin Cahill welcomed guests to opening night of The Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice announcing that the festival organization will be receiving a $125,000 grant. Supervisor of the Town of Shandaken Robert Stanley says the festival has proven to be an asset to local communities, boosting the economies of Phoenicia, Shandaken and neighboring municipalities. The grant is from the New York Community Capital Assistance Program. The festival, which is staffed and operated by volunteers, is in its fifth year. Since opening in 2010, the festival has grown to a five-day affair, incorporating 25 shows throughout seven venues, all within a short walking distance of one another in the Village of Phoenicia. The festival ends Sunday.
