NYRA Caps Travers Day Attendance At 50,000

The New York Racing Association (NYRA) hopes to continue to operate the Saratoga, Belmont and Aqueduct tracks.

Officials with the New York Racing Association have capped attendance for Saratoga's biggest race day.

NYRA announced Thursday that the 146th running of the Travers at Saratoga Race Course will have an attendance cap of 50,000.

The Mid-Summer Derby, which has drawn more than 66,000 fans in the past, is expected to draw large crowds even without American Pharoah. It’s not clear if the Triple Crown winner will ship East on August 29^th.

NYRA also capped attendance for the 2015 Belmont Stakes.

NYRA says all Travers Day reserved seating, dining, and clubhouse admissions are sold out. The organization is encouraging fans to purchase general admission in advance.
