New York Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney is holding a town hall Saturday on gun violence prevention.

The 18th District Democrat is holding the gun violence prevention student town hall at Middletown High School at 1, in the auditorium. The hour-long town hall is open to the public. Later this month, Maloney plans to meet with sportspeople and gun owners about finding common ground in the gun violence prevention debate. On Friday, Maloney wrote to Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, urging him to take up the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019. The legislation expands required background checks to include sales between private parties. The House of Representatives passed it in February.
