A 37-year-old Vermont man was jailed in New York after authorities say he led police on a 30-mile (48-kilometer) high-speed chase on an upstate highway.
State police had received a report that Austin Blodgett of Mount Holly Vermont was in possession of a gun and had made threatening statements about the government while stopped at a gas station in Westport in Essex County.

Troopers later spotted him traveling south on the Adirondack Northway. Police say he refused to stop and accelerated to more than 100 mph. He stopped in Bolton and was taken into custody without incident.

He's charged with traffic violations, illegal possession of an handgun and illegal possession of marijuana. Blodgett was arraigned and was being held Friday in the Warren County Jail on $10,000 cash bail.
