With planting season underway and guest workers arriving at New York farms, the New York Farm Bureau is encouraging farms to implement new COVID-19 guidance.
New state guidance includes information for farmworkers, detailed cleaning protocols and a checklist for farms to follow. Steve Ammerman, the New York Farm Bureau's Manager of Public Affairs, says the bureau asked for that guidance in April.
"It's very important for our farms to be pro-active, to do all that they can to limit the spread of the virus, protect their farmworkers, they are essential employees that help put food on our table. We're encouraging our farms to review the guidance and implement it on their farms as fast as they can."
