NY DA's: Special Prosecutor 'Flawed'

New York's district attorneys say Gov. Andrew Cuomo's appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate the deaths of unarmed civilians at the hands of police is "gravely flawed."

The New York State District Attorneys Association says Monday it raises serious questions whether cases will be properly investigated during the critical time right after an incident.

They note other "ambiguities," like whether the state attorney general will investigate a state police officer, if cases will be transferred if the victim dies later, and whether a pipe, other object or gun-shaped phone case would constitute a weapon.

Broome County District Attorney Gerald Mollen says the 62 county D.A.'s have far more experience and resources for these cases.

Cuomo says the perceived conflict of interest by local prosecutors with police is a problem.
