NY Congressman Criticizes Funding Proposal For Trump Tower Security

A Democratic New York congressman is criticizing proposed funding to cover presidential security at Trump Tower.

Congressman Eliot Engel says is he insulted by congressional Republicans’ proposal to fund one-fifth of the $35 million requested to help cover the costs of securing the building to protect President-elect Donald Trump and his family through the inauguration. In a statement, the congressman from Westchester County says that after a years-long struggle to secure funds for 9/11 first responders and Hurricane Sandy recovery, New Yorkers are being asked once again to foot the bill for a federal responsibility.
