Three lower Hudson Valley congressional representatives are calling for tax equity for areas with a high cost of living.

New York Representatives Nita Lowey, Jerrold Nadler, and Steve Israel Friday announced the re-introduction of the Tax Equity Act, designed to adjust federal tax brackets to reflect the elevated cost of living in major metropolitan areas. The Democratic lawmakers represent such districts which, respectively, span the counties of Westchester and Rockland, in New York City, and on Long Island. In areas where living costs are higher than the national average, they say their bill would require the IRS to adapt tax brackets accordingly. Other areas of the country with higher costs of living include San Francisco, Los Angeles, Honolulu, and Washington, D.C.
