A New York congressman-elect in the Hudson Valley will represent the freshman class as part of a U.S. House leadership team.

Democratic 17th District Congressman-Elect Mondaire Jones says he was unanimously elected by the freshman class of the next Congress to the position of Freshman Representative to Leadership. He says the role is the most influential available to a freshman member of Congress. Jones will meet weekly with House Majority leadership and serve as a spokesperson for the 15-person freshman class. Jones will also serve on the House Steering and Policy Committee, which makes recommendations to the Speaker of the House regarding committee memberships and leadership, and assists the Democratic Caucus in policy development and implementation.
