A number of organizations in northern Vermont will share $1.2 million in grant money from the Northern Border Regional Commission.
The commission was established by Congress in the 2008 Farm Bill and was recently reauthorized in the 2014 Farm Bill. It provides funding for development in economically distressed northern border counties in Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and New York.

This year's grants include a $240,000 grant to Burke Racing, to help replace a 61-year-old lift with a new T-bar lift at Burke Mountain. The project will help Burke Mountain to become an official U.S. Ski Team Development Site.

Northeast Organic Farmers of Vermont was awarded nearly $55,000 to help small and medium size dairies move to organic production.

The grants were announced Friday by Vermont's congressional delegation.
