Newburgh in line for downtown supermarket

NEWBURGH – Lower Broadway in the City of Newburgh is slated for a full-fledged supermarket, Mayor Judy Kennedy said.

The facility, to be constructed in a city-owned vacant lot adjacent to the DMV office, would house apartments on the second floor, the mayor said. She could not divulge the name of the supermarket at this time.

“It’s a way in which we can bring in a little vitality to the lower part of Broadway,” Kennedy said.

At present city residents must shop at supermarkets in the neighboring towns of Newburgh and New Windsor.
