New York To Build Memorial To Hate Crime Victims

Speaking before Sunday’s New York City Pride March, Governor Andrew Cuomo appeared with LGBTQ rights advocates announcing the state will erect a memorial in tribute to victims of the Orlando nightclub attack and other hate crimes.

The Democratic governor said the state will appoint a commission to oversee the project.

“That commission is going to pick an artist, a design, and we want a monument built to the victims of Orlando and the victims of hate crimes everywhere. We want the monument to be either in Christopher Park, or Hudson River Park, or Battery Park City in the gaze of the Statue of Liberty,” said Cuomo.
