Congressman Richard Neal, a Democrat from Massachusetts’ 1st House District, has asked the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to revoke its authorization for Kinder Morgan’s Connecticut Expansion Project in Western Massachusetts.

Neal joins fellow Massachusetts Democrats and U.S. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey in calling for a stop to the pipeline expansion.

They say FERC lacked a quorum to authorize the approval, and are calling for a rehearing of the project’s original certificate.

They say the certificate was granted without properly taking into consideration the region’s energy needs and that the project will have a significant environmental impact on Otis State Forest in Sandisfield

A rehearing was approved by FERC last year, but never scheduled.
