Many communities in the region are planning for Monday’s Memorial Day parade.

In Pittsfield, the procession will head from City Hall to North Street, and head north to Wahconah Street and toward Pittsfield Cemetery.

The Berkshire Veterans Coalition, members of the Pittsfield City Council, Boy and Girl Scouts, color guards, honor guards, students and a host of volunteers will be accompanied by high school marching bands.

At the Pittsfield Cemetery, Mayor Linda Tyer and Lou Robesch, commander of the Marine Corps League Detachment 137, will read the names of nearly 150 Pittsfield veterans who have died over the last year.

In North Adams, the parade will head down American Legion Drive to Main Street, then to Eagle Street – where it will end at the Veterans Memorial.

American Legion Post 125, the VFW, the VAA, AMVETS, city leaders, local students and volunteers are expected to march. The Drury High School Band and an eighth grade class will perform the “Star Spangled Banner,” “Let There Be Peace On Earth” and a reading of the Gettysburg address.

Mayor Richard Alcombright and Jodie Pajak, Vice Commander of the Department of Mass American Legion, will speak.

Both processions starts at 9.
