Mechanicville City Council To Hire Lawyer To Investigate Complaints Against Mayor

Mechanicville, located on a map of Saratoga County

The City of Mechanicville in Saratoga County will hire a lawyer to investigate complaints from city workers against its mayor.

On January 19th, the Mechanicville Police Benevolent Association filed a five-page complaint against Mayor Dennis Baker claiming the mayor “intimidated, harassed, demeaned and threatened” police and other city employees during his tenure. The union says all instances violate the city's "Fair Treatment" policy.

A telephone message from WAMC left at the mayor’s office seeking comment on the allegations was not returned.

The city posted a statement on its website Friday saying the city council would hire legal counsel to conduct an independent investigation into the complaints “given the seriousness of the allegations.”
