The acting mayor of Gloversville will serve the remainder of the former mayor’s four-year term after winning Tuesday’s election.

Democrat Vincent DeSantis will serve the remainder of former Republican Mayor Dayton King’s term. King resigned in January after pleading guilty to mail fraud.

DeSantis, who also ran on the Gloversville Party line, handily defeated Libertarian party candidate Dale Hank McGrath.

Three other candidates ran as write-ins in the Fulton County city.

Bill Rowback Jr., a Republican who narrowly lost to King after a 2017 recount, was elected to an at-large city council seat Tuesday.
