Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker is endorsing Chris Christie for the Republican presidential nomination. Baker and Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito will be in New Hampshire Saturday speaking in support of New Jersey’s governor.Baker says he decided to endorse Christie because he’s concerned that Senator Ted Cruz and Donald Trump, who finished one-two in the Iowa caucus, have not shown the ability to work across the aisle.

“For us [Polito and Baker] the big issue here, the litmus test, is ‘Can you demonstrate an ability to work with people you don’t agree with to get stuff done that matters to your constituents?’ Baker said. “And on this one I think Governor Christie has a very strong track record.”

Baker says Christie has offered advice since he became Massachusetts governor last year. Baker also questioned whether Trump has the right temperament and sense of purpose to serve in government. New Hampshire’s primary is Tuesday.
