Massachusetts State Police will move to fire 22 troopers implicated in an overtime abuse scandal.

The agency's commander said Friday the troopers were told the department would pursue termination, although they will have the opportunity to appeal. Col. Christopher Mason also said the department will seek reimbursement of any pay received fraudulently.

Forty-six current and retired troopers who worked for the now disbanded Troop E, which patrolled the Massachusetts Turnpike, were implicated in the scheme.

Authorities said they collected overtime pay for shifts they either did not work or did not complete. Ten were criminally charged, and 14 had retired.
