Lanesborough, Massachusetts has renewed plans to develop a solar array near Main Street.

The town has selected renewable energy company Ameresco to fill up to 13 acres of land off North Main Street with a solar array – that is, if the price is right.

Lanesborough solar consultants will continue talks to negotiate how much revenue would be gained from the lease and personal property taxes for Ameresco to operate.

The town bought the land – totaling 19 acres – in 2007 for $225,000 to build a senior center.

Lawmakers hope it will bring roughly $60,000 a year to the town, but consultants say it looks more like $25,000.
