Los Angeles will host the Summer Olympics for the third time in a hundred years. The International Olympic Committee is expected to award the 2024 games to Paris, and the 2028 Summer Olympics to L.A., which hosted the games in 1932 and 1984.
Dr. Andrew Zimbalist is the chair of the economics department at Smith College, the Robert A. Woods Professor of Economics at the school and the author of “Circus Maximus: The Economic Gamble Behind Hosting the Olympics and the World Cup” and “No Boston Olympics: How and Why Smart Cities Are Passing On the Torch”. Dr. Zimbalist tell WAMC that even though Los Angeles wanted the 2024 games, it will get the 2028 games instead.
