Kingston Residents Hold Congressional Town Hall Without Faso

Earlier this week, constituents in New York’s North Country held a town hall without their congressional representative, Republican Elise Stefanik. Organized by a progressive group on Friday, residents of Republican Congressman John Faso’s 19th District  did the same in Kingston.

Citizens Action said Faso has accepted to meet constituents in small groups, but has refused to meet in a town hall setting.

So organizers invited a panel of experts to discuss the current state of health care, immigration and climate change for the nineteenth district.

Lead organizer Callie Jayne said sending a clear message to Faso is just as important as educating the public.

“So we want to make sure that as he is making his decisions, he remembers that all these people here have the ability to vote him out. And that is really important,” said Jayne.

Four hundred tickets were distributed for the town hall.

In an email newsletter, Faso mentioned meetings in the district this week, including constituent meetings in Kingston and Kinderhook.
