Ithaca College Faculty Votes No Confidence In President

Members of the Ithaca College faculty say they've lost confidence in President Tom Rochon.

Results of a no confidence vote released Monday show that 78 percent of the more than 400 faculty members who voted approved the sentiment.

The student body had a similar vote, with similar results, last month.

The votes follow protests over the racial climate on campus. Ithaca is among several college campuses that saw demonstrations in the wake of protests at the University of Missouri over the administration's handling of racial issues.

Rochon says he understands the frustration on campus and is determined to work with faculty members and students to make the college more welcoming and inclusive.
