HV Congressional Reps To Attend Mario Cuomo's Funeral

wikipedia.org

Members of Congress are scheduled to be sworn in Tuesday, but those attending the funeral of former three-term New York Governor Mario Cuomo will participate in a separate ceremony.

Democratic congressional representatives Nita Lowey and Sean Patrick Maloney are among those from the Hudson Valley who are attending Mario Cuomo’s funeral. Here’s Maloney.

“We’re going to be making special arrangements to be sworn in in a separate ceremony. I’ll be missing the official ceremony to attend the funeral,” says Maloney. “It just seemed to me like something I didn’t want to miss. And I didn’t want to miss an opportunity to pay my respects to a great New Yorker.”

Maloney was working at the law firm Mario Cuomo joined in 1995 and had the office next to his. Former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who are Westchester residents, also are expected to attend the private 11 a.m. funeral in Manhattan.
