Historic Utica Theater Headed To Auction Block

wikipedia

A landmark theater in Utica is headed to the auction block.

Utica's Uptown Theatre opened in 1927, but has sat empty since closing in 2013. A judgment of foreclosure and sale was granted by a state judge in May.

The Observer-Dispatch of Utica reports that the theater will be auctioned on Wednesday, July 27 at the Oneida County Court House.

The theater's stage was renovated in 2012 so it could host live shows, bands and first-run films. But the owner cited lack of community support after closing the theater.
